If you’ve made it this far, you already have three items or “things” completed of the twenty three things that make up Learning 2.0. Congratulations on your progress.
Remember to register your blog and record your progress on each of the 23 things. For the sake of simplifying this process for staff involved, you will use the L2 Progress Chart that has been created on the Library shared drive, in the staff development folder.
When recording your progress you will need to include the URL for the permanent link to each of your blog posts that capture your thoughts, comments or findings about your discovery process. Depending upon the Blogger template that you selected, the permanent link for each individual post can be found either through the post’s title or through a link in the post's footer area that contains the date.
Example: Look at this sample blog post:
At the bottom of the 1st post you will see the name of the person who posted the comment and the time it was posted, this is the permanent link.
If you click on the permanent link for an individual post, you will be taken to its page. This is the link that you want to use when recording your progress on the progress chart.
The progress chart has an example already completed at the top which will show you how to record your own progress.
Discovery Exercise:
1. Open the progress chart.xls that is located on the Library shared drive in the staff development folder. Select the sheet that has your name on it. Check off the first 2 "Things" to show you have completed them.
2. For Thing 3 include the address for your blog, you can cut and paste this from your browser.
3. For Thing 4, remember the post you made about the 7 and 1/2 lifelong learning habits, add the permanent link to one of these, it's easy just:
- go to the post
- click on the permanent link
- highlight the URL in the address bar and copy it
- go to the progress chart and paste the URL in
It’s really that easy and just think, now there’s only 19 more things to go. :) And to make recording easy, I would suggest that you make a habit of recording your progress weekly.
