This blog has been set-up to encourage staff to experiment and learn about the new and emerging technologies that are reshaping the context of information on the Internet today. The objectives of this program are to:
- encourage exploration of Web 2.0 and new technologies.
- support staff in accessing and using new tools (that are freely available on the Internet) that they may be able to utilise in their work.
The program was initially delivered for library staff at the Ourimbah Campus and commenced in late 2007. Staff from the Bibliographic Services, NOVA, HERDC, and Collection Development Teams in the Auchmuty Library at Callaghan Campus are commencing the course in October 2010.

How much time each week?
The discovery exercises should only take about 1-2 hours each week to complete what you need to do for the progress chart, but there is always scope for more hours as these technologies are fun and have lots of aspects to them. You will probably find that some weeks you want to play and learn more, as something captures your imagination, whilst others you will not.
Joining In
Each Monday an email will be sent out to alert staff to the activities for that week. This is just to help you keep on track. However you can do the tasks whenever you like. You can join the program at any point. If you want to complete them really quickly - go for it. If you have a busy schedule and can't make time one week, then catch up in another week. Just remember that you need to be completed by 16th December 2010.
Registration & Tracking Progress
There is an excel file on the Library folder under staff development that you will be completing to track your progress. Details of how you register will be sent out in the first week. Details on how you track your progress is part of the activity for Thing 4. So don't worry about registering or tracking your progress, as when you need to do these things, there will be instructions, plus reminders as you go.
